Glastonbury 2026 — Sunday (Closing Day)

The world's greatest greenfield music festival — mud, magic, and 200,000 people on a Somerset farm.

Sun, 28 Jun 2026 Worthy Farm, Glastonbury 3 days · arrive Sat, 27 Jun 2026

Glastonbury Festival is the world's largest greenfield music festival, held annually on Michael Eavis's Worthy Farm in Somerset. With a capacity of 200,000 and more than 100 stages spanning music, circus, theatre, healing, and cabaret, it is less a festival and more a temporary city. This 3-day itinerary covers Thursday arrival through Saturday — the heart of the festival — before the famous Sunday headliner closes proceedings. Camping on-site is the authentic Glastonbury experience: fall asleep to distant bass, wake to birdsong in the Vale of Avalon.

Your 3-day itinerary

1

Arrive, Set Up Camp, First Night on the Farm

~$110

RFID wristbands are mailed before the festival. Activate at home before you leave. Lost wristbands cannot be replaced on-site.

Morning

Travel to Glastonbury3–5 hours$40

Fly into Bristol Airport (BRS) or London Heathrow (LHR). From Bristol take the National Express coach directly to the festival gates (90 min). From London take the train to Castle Cary station — the closest rail station to Worthy Farm — where free shuttle buses run direct to the gates during festival week.

💡 Castle Cary is the best train option from London Paddington (90 min). Book well in advance — festival trains sell out months ahead.

Set Up Camp at Worthy Farm1–2 hours

Choose your campsite wisely. Pennard Hill is elevated and dries out fastest after rain. Park Home offers a quieter atmosphere away from the late-night party fields. Avoid the low-lying fields closest to the main stages if heavy rain is forecast — they become rivers. Peg your tent, inflate your mat, and get oriented.

💡 Bring a map of the site — the printed Glastonbury app works offline and is essential. Phone signal inside the festival is notoriously poor.

Afternoon

Explore the Pyramid Stage Area3 hours

The Pyramid Stage is the spiritual centre of Glastonbury — a permanent steel pyramid structure that draws hundreds of thousands over the weekend. Walk the full Pyramid field, get your bearings, and catch your first acts of the festival. The Other Stage sits just to the south and is equally large.

💡 The best sound position at the Pyramid is further back than you think — roughly two-thirds of the way up the field gives optimal audio.

Walk the Healing Fields and Green Fields2 hours

The eastern Green Fields are one of Glastonbury's best-kept secrets — a collection of alternative culture, sacred spaces, craft stalls, healing therapies, and acoustic music. The Healing Fields offer everything from yoga and meditation to reflexology. The Stone Circle at the top of the hill is a pilgrimage point.

💡 The Green Fields close earlier than the main festival areas — aim to visit during daylight on Day 1 or Day 2 afternoon.

Evening

First Night Bands on the Pyramid4 hours$20

Thursday evening at Glastonbury has a special energy — the crowds are still fresh, the anticipation is electric, and the Pyramid Stage opens with its first acts of the festival. The Thursday headliner is typically a major but slightly left-field act. Find a spot, grab a cider, and let Glastonbury begin.

💡 Thursday is less crowded than Friday and Saturday — use this evening to explore the smaller stages before the weekend crowds arrive.

Where to eat

Breakfast on arrivalbreakfast· $12
Food Trader Lunchlunch· $18
Evening Street Fooddinner· $20

Breakfast on arrival: Eat before entering the festival or at one of the first food traders near the gate. Festival food prices are high but quality is surprisingly good.

Food Trader Lunch: The Park area and the markets around the Other Stage have the widest food selection. Ethiopian, Indian, Caribbean, and vegan traders are outstanding.

Evening Street Food: The area around the Pyramid and West Holts stages has dozens of late-night food traders. Budget £15–20 per meal at the festival.

2

Full Festival Day — Headliners, Hidden Stages, Healing Fields

~$95

Cashless RFID wristbands are used for all on-site purchases. Top up via the Glastonbury app or at top-up stations around the site. ATMs exist but queues can be very long.

Morning

Acoustic Stage Morning Gospel1.5 hours

A beloved Glastonbury tradition: the Sunday morning gospel choir at the Acoustic Stage (and Saturday equivalents) creates one of the festival's most joyful moments. The Acoustic Stage is tucked in the acoustic area and holds some of the most intimate performances of the entire festival.

💡 Arrive early for a good spot. The Acoustic Stage fills completely and turns people away for popular acts.

Glastonbury Tor Day Trip2.5 hours$15

A 20-minute cab ride from the festival takes you to the iconic Glastonbury Tor — a hill topped by a medieval tower with panoramic views across the Somerset Levels. This short excursion is worth it for those wanting a brief escape from the festival and a connection to the area's mythical history as the possible site of Avalon.

💡 Only feasible if you have a working phone for a cab booking app. Uber is not available — use a local taxi firm pre-booked the night before.

Afternoon

The Park Stage3 hours

The Park Stage is Glastonbury's hidden gem — a smaller, more atmospheric venue in the rolling parkland to the north of the main site. The programming is consistently excellent, the crowds are manageable, and the natural amphitheatre setting creates a unique atmosphere. Many Glastonbury veterans argue the Park Stage has the best bookings of any stage.

💡 The hill overlooking the Park Stage is a perfect viewing spot for large crowds. Bring a blanket and claim a patch early in the afternoon.

West Holts and Arcadia2 hours

West Holts is the festival's home for global music, electronic sounds, and afrobeats, while the Arcadia Spider — an enormous mechanical sculpture — puts on spectacular fire and laser shows after dark. In the afternoon, explore the left field areas and Shangri-La, the festival's late-night zone.

💡 Shangri-La (the late-night area) opens at 22:00. It operates its own internal economy and features world-class DJs in immersive environments.

Evening

Pyramid Stage Headliner3.5 hours

The Friday and Saturday headliners at Glastonbury are typically among the most watched live music events in the world. Position yourself in the Pyramid field by 19:00 to secure a good spot for the 21:30 headline set. The atmosphere — 200,000 people singing together in the Somerset night air — is unmatched in music.

💡 The Pyramid Stage sound is best heard across a wide field. Don't fight your way to the front — the sound carries perfectly across the entire hillside.

Where to eat

Campsite Breakfastbreakfast· $10
The Park Café Lunchlunch· $18
Pre-headliner Dinnerdinner· $20

Campsite Breakfast: Bring a small camping stove and instant oats for a cheap morning meal, or use the breakfast traders near the campsites for a hot bacon or veggie roll.

The Park Café Lunch: The Park area has excellent food traders and slightly shorter queues than the main Pyramid field during lunchtime.

Pre-headliner Dinner: Eat before 18:00 to avoid queuing during the support acts. The food markets near the Other Stage are less crowded than Pyramid-side traders in the evening.

3

Sunday Headliner, Pack Up, Depart

~$100

Leave no trace: Glastonbury asks all attendees to carry out their rubbish. Abandoned tents are a growing issue — please dismantle and pack out your tent.

Morning

Sunday Morning Walk and Final Exploration2 hours

Sunday morning at Glastonbury has a contemplative quality — the crowds are thinner, the morning light over the Somerset hills is beautiful, and there's a shared sense of time running out. Take a long walk through the site: the Stone Circle, the top of Pennard Hill, and the acoustic area all reward a Sunday morning visit.

💡 Visit the smaller markets and craft stalls on Sunday morning — traders often reduce prices at the end of the festival.

Afternoon

Afternoon Stages and Final Acts3 hours

Sunday afternoon programming is consistently strong — look for special guests, acoustic sets, and genre-spanning acts across the John Peel Stage and Other Stage. The John Peel Stage has historically produced some of Glastonbury's most celebrated surprise performances.

💡 The John Peel Stage (formerly the NME Stage) has a long tradition of breakthrough acts and surprise appearances. Check the Sunday lineup carefully.

Begin Packing Down1.5 hours

Start breaking down camp before the Sunday headliner if catching an early Monday departure, or after the headliner for a leisurely Monday morning exit. Glastonbury's exit on Sunday night and Monday morning involves significant traffic — plan your train or coach departure carefully.

💡 Leaving after the Sunday headliner means queuing with the majority of 200,000 people. Consider camping Sunday night and leaving early Monday morning for a far smoother experience.

Evening

Sunday Pyramid Stage Headliner3 hours

The Sunday headliner at Glastonbury is an institution — the slot has been filled by legends including David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, Radiohead, and Paul McCartney. A Sunday evening at the Pyramid is frequently described as a life-changing experience. The field fills to capacity as the nation watches at home.

💡 The Sunday headliner typically starts at 21:15. Find your spot by 20:30 at the latest. The atmosphere during the Sunday closer is unlike any other event in live music.

Where to eat

Campsite Breakfastbreakfast· $10
Sunday Lunch at the Marketslunch· $18
Pre-headliner Dinnerdinner· $20

Campsite Breakfast: Use up any remaining RFID credit on breakfast. Refunds on unused credit are processed automatically after the festival.

Sunday Lunch at the Markets: The food markets near the Pyramid have their full selection through Sunday afternoon — this is the last chance for your favourite trader's food.

Pre-headliner Dinner: Eat early and head to the Pyramid field to secure your spot. Queues at food traders drop sharply once the support acts begin.

Practical info

✈️ Getting there

Fly into Bristol Airport (BRS, 45min by coach to festival) or London Heathrow (LHR, 2.5 hrs by train to Castle Cary). Castle Cary station has direct festival shuttle buses during the event. National Express runs coaches from multiple UK cities direct to the festival gates. Driving is possible but parking requires a separate pass purchased well in advance.

🏨 Where to stay

On-site camping is by far the most popular and authentic option. Bring a good quality tent, a sleeping mat, and a warm sleeping bag regardless of forecast. Glamping options within the site are available but premium-priced. Hotel accommodation is available in Bristol (45min) and Bath (30min) — useful if you prefer a bed, though travel time to/from the festival adds complexity.

🎟️ Ticket advice

Glastonbury tickets sell out in minutes via a ballot system that typically opens in October for the following June festival. Register on the official website with your photo ID before the sale opens. Resale tickets are available through the official resale platform in the spring. Ticket price is approximately £350 including camping.

Local tips

  • ·Wellington boots (wellies) are non-negotiable — even in a dry year the ground becomes churned and muddy with 200,000 people walking across it. Buy before you travel.
  • ·The cashless RFID wristband system covers all on-site purchases. Top up your wristband before entering the site or at top-up stations. Having cash as a backup is wise.
  • ·The Park Stage is consistently cited by long-time Glastonbury attendees as the best stage on the site — smaller, more intimate, and with adventurous programming.
  • ·Sunday morning gospel choir at the Acoustic Stage is a Glastonbury institution. Set an alarm, walk over before it fills, and experience one of the most joyful moments in music.
  • ·Download the Glastonbury app before you arrive — it works offline and contains stage times, maps, and announcements. Signal inside the festival is extremely poor throughout the weekend.
