The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli sits on the Adriatic Riviera, just 3 km from the beach resort of Misano Adriatico and 10 km south of Rimini. This is the most relaxed MotoGP venue on the calendar — race by day, Adriatic beach bars by evening. The circuit is named after Marco Simoncelli, the beloved Italian rider lost to the sport in 2011, and the Italian tifosi arrive in force every September.
Your 4-day itinerary
Arrive at the Adriatic Riviera
Morning
Rimini Federico Fellini Airport (RMI) is just 15 km from the circuit — the easiest option. Alternatively fly into Bologna (BLQ) and rent a car for the 120 km drive along the A14 motorway. A hire car is convenient but not essential — taxis and buses connect Rimini to the circuit on race weekend.
💡 Rimini Airport has limited European connections — check Bologna first for your routes.
Afternoon
The resort town of Misano Adriatico is just 3 km from the circuit. The Adriatic beach is clean, warm (water temperature 25°C in September), and lined with beach clubs offering sunbeds, parasols, and cold Aperol Spritz. This is Italian beach holiday culture at its best.
💡 Beach clubs rent sunbed-and-umbrella combos for €20–30/day. Worth every cent in September heat.
The circuit is 3 km from the beach — easy taxi or bicycle ride. Friday afternoon practice sessions run from 10:45 and 15:00. The fan village has extensive Ducati brand presence (Ducati is headquartered nearby in Borgo Panigale, Bologna) making the Italian atmosphere particularly intense.
Evening
Rimini's Marina Centro area has excellent seafood restaurants. Ristorante Il Porto serves fresh Adriatic catch — spaghetti alle vongole, mixed grilled fish, and local white Albana wine. The piazzas fill with fans from across Italy and Europe on race weekend.

Practice Day & Beach
Morning
The Adriatic in September is warm enough for a genuine morning swim. The beach in front of most Misano hotels is directly accessible — a 10-minute walk from the circuit area.
Saturday practice. The Misano circuit has a fantastic primary grandstand overlooking the pit straight and a stunning approach road lined with MotoGP merchandise stalls and Italian food vendors.
💡 The Quercia section (Turn 6) is where the fastest braking happens at Misano — worth hiking to if you have circuit access.
Afternoon
The tiny Republic of San Marino sits on top of Monte Titano, 25 km inland from Misano. It's one of the world's oldest republics (founded 301 AD), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and genuinely spectacular. The medieval towers and city walls are unmissable.
💡 San Marino is free to enter — the cable car up from the base is €10 return and worth it for the panoramic views.
Evening
The Misano Adriatico lungomare (seafront promenade) is the heart of race weekend social life. Dozens of bars set up MotoGP viewing screens, serve Aperol Spritz and local Sangiovese, and the evening crowd is electric.
Where to eat
Hotel breakfast: Most Adriatic riviera hotels include breakfast.
Sprint, Qualifying & More Adriatic
Afternoon
Saturday Sprint Race followed by qualifying. The Misano circuit's tight and technical nature makes for spectacular sprint racing — overtaking at the Curvone (Turn 16, fast right-hander) is particularly exciting.
💡 The Tramonto grandstand (sunset side of the circuit) faces west — spectacular golden light during Saturday afternoon qualifying.
Evening
The Adriatic riviera towns of Cattolica (10 km south) and Riccione (5 km north) have excellent fish restaurants and beach bars. Riccione is particularly lively with its viale Ceccarini pedestrian boulevard lined with restaurants and gelato shops.
Where to eat
Race Day
Race start 14:00. The circuit atmosphere on race day is among the most Italian in MotoGP — expect flags, horns, and constant Ducati chanting. Post-race, the circuit emptying takes 1 hour — no rush.
Morning
The circuit is 3 km from most Misano hotels — many fans walk to the circuit on race morning, creating a spontaneous parade of motorcycle gear, national flags, and race-day energy.
Afternoon
Race start at 14:00 local time. 27 laps of the 4.226 km Misano circuit. Named in honour of Marco Simoncelli, the crowd remembrance moment before the race is one of the most emotional in MotoGP. The Ducati fans in the Italian tifosi reach absolute delirium if a Ducati takes victory.
💡 The straight between Curvone (T16) and the final chicane is the main overtaking zone — ideal for watching if you have circuit walking access.
Evening
Unlike most circuits, Misano allows you to walk from the race to the beach in 30 minutes. The Adriatic beach bars are open until midnight — join the post-race celebrations with a glass of Sangiovese and Adriatic breeze.
Where to eat
Circuit or pre-race food stall: Porchetta rolls and arrosticini grilled lamb are the race-day staples.
