💬 Things you won't find in a guidebook
- Many natural sites in Samoa are managed by local villages and charge a small cash entry fee — this directly supports the community, so carry small denominations.
- Sundays are observed strictly in Samoa — most shops, tours, and even some beaches close, and loud activity is discouraged out of respect for church services.
- To Sua Ocean Trench is best visited in the morning before tour groups and the afternoon light gets harsh.
- Beach fales offer a genuinely local overnight or day experience but have no walls or air conditioning — pack a light sarong or sheet for sleeping comfort.
- Dress modestly when visiting villages — covering shoulders and knees is appreciated and respectful of Samoan custom (fa'a Samoa).
