🌅 Morning
Arrive Grantley Adams International Airport
Grantley Adams International Airport, Christ Church
The airport sits on the south coast about 20 minutes from Bridgetown. Licensed taxis are unmetered but follow fixed-rate guidance posted at the arrivals hall — agree the fare before departing.
Confirm the fare in Barbadian dollars or USD before getting in — both are widely accepted.
☀️ Afternoon
Garrison Historic Area walking tour
Garrison Historic Area, Bridgetown
A UNESCO World Heritage Site — 18th and 19th-century British military buildings, the Main Guard, George Washington House (where a young Washington stayed in 1751), and the Garrison Savannah racetrack.
George Washington House offers a small but well-curated museum on the only place the future US president ever slept outside North America.

An evening walk through Bridgetown's main shopping street and harbourfront, ending near the Careenage waterway.

🌅 Morning

Founded in 1703, the world's oldest rum brand still in continuous production. The visitor centre tour covers the distillation and aging process, ending with a guided tasting flight.
Book the Premium Tasting tour if you want to sample the older XO and 1703 expressions.
☀️ Afternoon
Carlisle Bay beach and shipwreck snorkelling
Carlisle Bay Marine Park, Bridgetown
A protected marine park with calm, clear water and several accessible shipwrecks just offshore — popular for snorkelling and watching sea turtles feed on the seagrass.
Rent snorkel gear at the beach kiosks rather than bringing your own — local operators know exactly where the turtles feed.
🌙 Evening
Sunset catamaran cruise
Bridgetown Harbour
A relaxed evening sail along the south coast with rum punch included, a popular way to watch the sun set over the Caribbean Sea.
🍽️ Meals
Beach kiosk, Carlisle Bay
Bajan · $14
Catamaran dinner buffet
Bajan/Caribbean · $0 · Included in the catamaran cruise package.
Bathsheba & the East Coast
Wednesday, February 17
Est. spend
$180
per person
🌅 Morning
Drive to Bathsheba via the Chalky Mount potteries
Chalky Mount, St Andrew
A scenic cross-island drive through Barbados' hilly interior, stopping at the Chalky Mount pottery village where artisans still hand-throw red-clay vessels using techniques from the 17th century.
Buy a small clay monkey jar directly from a potter's workshop — cheaper and more authentic than gift shop versions.
☀️ Afternoon
Bathsheba and the Soup Bowl
Bathsheba, St Joseph
Barbados' dramatic Atlantic coast — giant boulders scattered along the shoreline and the Soup Bowl, a world-class surf break that hosts international competitions. Swimming is dangerous here; the draw is the scenery and watching surfers.
Do not swim at Bathsheba — strong currents make it unsafe even for confident swimmers. Watch from the rocks or the Soup Bowl viewpoint instead.
🌙 Evening
Andromeda Botanic Gardens
Andromeda Botanic Gardens, Bathsheba
A clifftop botanical garden near Bathsheba with orchids, bearded fig trees, and ocean views, especially atmospheric in the late afternoon light.
🍽️ Meals
The Atlantis Hotel, Bathsheba
Bajan · $25 · Clifftop dining overlooking the Soup Bowl, famous for its Sunday buffet — check if available.
Round House, Bathsheba
Bajan/Caribbean · $30
Oistins Fish Fry & Departure
Thursday, February 18
Est. spend
$120

🌅 Morning
Oistins Fish Market
Oistins Fish Market, Christ Church
Barbados' main fishing town, where boats unload the morning catch — flying fish, mahi-mahi, and tuna — right onto the dock for sale and gutting.
Visit before 9am to see the boats actually come in — by midday the market has wound down.
☀️ Afternoon
Flying fish and cou-cou cooking experience
Oistins, Christ Church
A short hands-on cooking session learning to prepare Barbados' national dish — flying fish steamed in a Bajan seasoning, served with cou-cou (cornmeal and okra).
🍽️ Meals
Hotel breakfast
Bajan/Continental · $12
Oistins Fish Fry stalls
Bajan seafood · $18 · Grilled flying fish, breadfruit, and macaroni pie from the famous Friday-night fish fry stalls (open daytime too, quieter).

💬 Things you won't find in a guidebook
- Rum shops are the social heart of Barbados — small roadside bars serving rum, beer, and snacks, found in almost every village.
- Flying fish is the national dish; cou-cou and flying fish on a Friday is the classic combination to order.
- The Soup Bowl at Bathsheba is for watching surfers, not swimming — currents are dangerous.
- Crop Over (June–August) is the island's biggest festival if travel dates are flexible, though outside the scope of this winter itinerary.
- Driving is on the left; a valid foreign license is accepted for short-term car rental.
