🌅 Morning
Arrive Lynden Pindling International Airport
Lynden Pindling International Airport, Nassau
LPIA sits on New Providence's west side, about 30 minutes from downtown Nassau. Official taxis are metered to fixed zones; budget $35 to downtown hotels.
Have small USD bills ready — the Bahamian dollar is pegged 1:1 to USD and both currencies are accepted everywhere.
☀️ Afternoon
Pirates of Nassau Museum
George St & King St, Nassau
An immersive walk-through museum recreating 18th-century pirate Nassau, including a replica of Blackbeard's ship the Revenge. Covers the city's golden age as a pirate haven before British rule.
Combine with a walk through the nearby Parliament Square and the pink Government House.
🌙 Evening
Arawak Cay Fish Fry
Arawak Cay, West Bay St, Nassau
A strip of colourful waterside shacks where locals grill and fry the day's catch — conch salad, cracked conch, and grilled grouper, with live music most evenings.
Try conch salad made fresh in front of you — lime, peppers, and onion over raw conch, no cooking required.

Ferry to Blue Lagoon Island
Nassau Harbour ferry dock, Nassau

Book the stingray adventure add-on in advance — it sells out on cruise-ship days.
☀️ Afternoon
Beach day and stingray swim, Blue Lagoon Island
Blue Lagoon Island, Nassau
Loungers on calm, shallow turquoise water, plus a guided shallow-water stingray interaction. Hammocks and beach bars round out a full relaxed afternoon.
Arrive on the first ferry to claim a quiet stretch of beach before the cruise crowds arrive.
🌙 Evening

Junkanoo Beach, West Bay St, Nassau
A walkable strip of sand right by downtown, popular with locals at sunset for a casual swim and a cold Kalik beer.

Junkanoo Museum and Educational Exhibit
Bay Street, Nassau
A small but vivid museum on the Bahamas' biggest cultural export — the Junkanoo carnival parade — with costumes, drums, and cowbells used in the Boxing Day and New Year's parades.
Ask staff to demonstrate the goombay drum rhythm — most visitors miss this.
☀️ Afternoon
Cable Beach
Cable Beach, Nassau
Nassau's resort strip beach — calmer surf than Junkanoo Beach, good swimming, and several beach bars renting jet skis and parasail rides.
Parasailing here costs about $80 per person and offers the best aerial view of New Providence's coastline.

Climb early before the heat — there's little shade on the staircase.

💬 Things you won't find in a guidebook
- Tipping 15% is standard at restaurants and is sometimes already added as a service charge — check your bill before tipping twice.
- Junkanoo parades happen on Boxing Day and New Year's Day — outside those dates, the Junkanoo Museum is the best way to experience the culture.
- Conch is the national dish — try it raw as salad, cracked (fried), or in chowder to compare styles.
- New Providence traffic can be heavy around Nassau's one-way downtown streets; allow extra time for airport transfers.
- Water sports operators on Cable Beach negotiate prices — comparing two or three stalls before booking saves money.
